On the morning of May 25, 2026, the Orange County Chinese Community Service Center, together with the Orange County Chinese Association and its Sunshine Parent-Child Club and Sunshine Youth Club, jointly held the senior care outreach event “Sharing Warmth with Oranges, Filling the Community with Love.” The children brought freshly picked oranges and heartfelt blessings to local seniors.

One Bag of Oranges, One Gesture of Warmth

On the day of the event, student representatives and parent representatives arrived at the senior activity site with freshly picked oranges harvested by the children themselves. Each thoughtfully packed bag of oranges carried not only the sweetness of the fruit, but also the younger generation’s care and respect for their elders.

The orange, or “ju,” symbolizes good fortune, peace, and happiness. The scene was filled with warmth and smiles. The seniors were delighted to receive the gifts and expressed sincere appreciation for the children’s kindness and thoughtfulness.

Young People Learn to Honor Seniors Through Action

All of the oranges distributed during this event were personally picked, sorted, and packed by the children from the Sunshine Parent-Child Club and Sunshine Youth Club. By participating directly in community service, the children not only experienced the value of labor, but also learned the importance of respecting seniors and serving the community.

Many seniors shared that activities like this help them feel the warmth of the community as one big family, while also showing them the compassion and sense of responsibility carried by the younger generation.
